The second flow, in the wartime, was not as strong. Ukrainian brides got acquainted with English and American officers at discos in Arkhangelsk and Murmansk, where the convoy ships, the weapons and the food arrived. Harries, Bobbies and Jonnies fell hopelessly in love with the ruddy-cheeked Ukranian girls.
There were few people at that time who could leave their countries and choose to spend their lives with a person from abroad. The third flow has happened in the beginning of the 60s, when African and Arab students have started to come to the USSR. A result of that were 50 000 mixed marriages that were contracted.
The fourth flow of emigration is still in action. The beauty contests greatly increase the demand in the marriage industry, they encourage the growth and development of marriage agencies. Ukrainian brides become more and more attractive for foreign men. The reason for it is that Ukrainian women, as a rule, are educated, beautiful and family -oriented.
