Nataliya from St. Petersburg shares her own experience with those of you who plan to attend such meetings in the future. (Nataliya met her future husband at one of these gatherings. Now she is happily married and live in the U.S.)
1. Before attending the event, tell yourself that you are going to have fun first. Enjoy the nice atmosphere, free champagne and dancing. Let practicing your English (German, French, etc.) and flirting with the men be your priorities! In that case you will not be very disappointed if you don't meet anyone, whom you like.
2. Some girls prefer to go to these gatherings by themselves. As for me, I don't feel comfortable when I am alone out there. If, within first fifteen minutes, nobody came to you, you will probably feel discouraged and your expression will reflect your feelings. At the same time, don't go with three or more girls, or at least, don't stick to each other. Many men will be embarrassed to approach such a big company.
3. Many girls prefer to be dressed up in bright colors to attract men's attention. I was in a black suit and now is happily married. In reality, it matters not what do you put on but how do you act. Be yourself. If somebody likes you for who you are, this is the beginning of a Happy end.
4. Do not smile to everyone. Maybe it is not very polite, but if you do not want to speak to a person, you will just waist his and your own time. If somebody starts a conversation with you and you realize that you don't want to continue, excuse yourself and leave. Do not say that you will be back, otherwise he will be waiting for you.
5. Answer questions sincerely. Do not make him to like you. Do not try to show him how nice you are. If he is a smart guy, he will notice it himself.
6. And don't forget: if you don't speak foreign language well, you will learn it from your future husband. But you have to be able to maintain a simple conversation at least.
