More than 10 weddings can be celebrated in this colony in one day. Everything is like on a real wedding party: brides in beautiful dresses, rings and kisses, except champagne and video recordings. Before going to the special room for 3-days meeting bride and groom must be searched.
The newly married prisoners don't have any indulgences: meeting with their wives - once in three months, letters and sendings in connection with the schedule of the colony.
The prisoners in this colony sit there not for serious crimes - thefts, hooliganism, stealing of cars. Everybody of them work: make children's wood cubes and dominoes, knit handbags, some of them are engaged in a car center.
Tatiana Merzlakova - representative under human rights of Sverdlovsk - reports that the problems of lonely prisoners are the most serious for today. Healthy men have to spend many years in prison without any purpose, which a family life could give them. Thus the administration seriously thinks about organizing a special marriage agency for such people.
Today the newspaper "Zona" executes these functions: it prints the announcements of prisoners and the young ladies write letters to them. For example, you can meet such announcements in the newspaper: "I am on the strict regime, but I want to get acquainted with a higher-educated women till 25 years old, who has a house in the country and a cow.
It's interesting that some ladies agree to marry even such prisoners who have to stay in prison till the end of their life.
We hope that the idea of the special marriage agency for prisoners will help us to diminish the amount of criminals in our country.
