The most ancient love letter was found in Iran, it can be related to the 2000 AD. A young man called Gimisa asked a lady he loved named Dasbuaj to arrange a date. Writing of this letter required extreme patience, and the delivery of the love letter required remarkable strength, because it was written on a stone that weighed over 16 kilogrammes!
One American lady, a member of the Society of assistance to prisoners, due to her duties exchanged letters with one of the prisoners for a long time lived in prison Sing Sing. Deep mutual love arose from their correspondence. It was shown rather originally. She writes: "My dear 887924! Please allow me to call you simply 887!" Samuel Johnson, an English scientist of the 18 century, after a long exchange of love letters with his lady, has dared to propose her, at last. That's how he finished his letter: "I want be absolutely fair. That is why I should inform you, that I'm not wealthy, and one of my relatives was hung". She answered: "your propose, I accept it with pleasure. I'm also not very wealthy. Noone of my relatives was hung up at the time, but I think, that not less than ten of them deserve it".
